Graphic Design has been around for many years, and has been presented in multiple shapes, sizes, and platforms. Years ago, books & novels that were printed and bound took a very long time to complete due to the nature of the typesetting process and the needed physical artistic expression from the designer. Today through the development of computer software such as Adobe Photoshop & Adobe InDesign, publication design and protective book jackets can be created much simpler than before. As with this new software development, the availability of many more typefaces has grown significantly, which can be used to portray the subject matter more cohesively.
Using multiple images and layering them on top of each other in different locations about the canvas can create a compelling, meaningful image. Applying different filters to each layer, such as hue, saturation, brightness, contrast, & blending controls for example, and changing a layer’s opacity, can create one-of-a-kind results. This method, paired with numerous typographical solutions, leaves the designer’s imagination open to endless possibilities!
